So I’ve got OpenVPN installed and running now.
On a completely related note, today I realized that I undertake strange computer endeavors without any end use.

I love twenty-first century electronics.

Riding in the passenger seat on a weekend gateway… Windows XP laptop WiFi tethered to my rooted Droid Incredible. Using PuTTY as a terminal to SSH into my danschoppe.com domain (domain name used in place of a static IP, updated using EveryDNS). All this so I could work on setting up a danschoppe.com VPN server (OpenVPN) so I can remotely push automated backups to my network storage device.
The point of this post isn’t the VPN server or tethering in the middle-of-nowhere Minnesota, but the ability to be connected (even configuring a server) anywhere and anytime I want. In fact, I’m writing this before bed on an Android market app by Wordpress.
Now I’ve got to find a new car stereo head unit that will play nicely with Android. I’d like hands free calling, syncing contacts, and sharing music over Bluetooth. If anyone has recommendations, please pass them along
Just installed Fedora on my web server instead of the Ubuntu Server I’m used to. I think I’ll like it much better this way.
